Police, Fire and Recreation Council Committee Meeting 6/2/15
In attendance: Council Members- Bill Puthoff, John Ranz, Jeff Albrinck, Mike Hauck, Dave Nichols, Barb Rohs and Niel Korte.
Barb Rohs presented to council a proposal of electronic options for council members. Council will be moving towards using the Microsoft Surface and receiving agendas, minutes and ordinances through Microsoft 365.
Recreation: The new shelter house is opened. Lighting will stay on for security and safety. There is a pad for a propane grill. The fire chief will check on proper distance from building.
Fire Department: There were 74 applicants for Fireman position. 60 applicants sat for written exam. 25 passed the exam. Physical agility testing will be June 6/7. Mike Jones, former fire fighter, passed away. The fire fighter mourning flag is flying from the department flag pole until sunset of his funeral. Two employees at Watsons are getting letters of accommodation for saving the life of a 59 yr old patron who had a heart attack at the store.
Police: Tim Holloway is receiving a proclamation for his service in the SWAT team for 17 years. It is being proposed that there be a parcel fee-tax for 911 calls in Hamilton County of $42 a parcel.
The first draft of the social medial policy was distributed. Council will read and comment.
Cynthia Caracci presents year end projections and tax revenue projections for 2015. One scenario used average monthly excess from 2015 which showed a year end surplus of $377,752. The other scenario uses a three year average projection with a yearend profit of $39,016.
Mr. Ranz discussed the Acus property and would like for the ordinance be rewritten to assist Mr. Acus in keeping the carport until no longer needed or house sold.
Committee members discussed with Cynthia the “Thru The Valley” Fund and making sure that fund is created and not restricted.
